Fabulous Friday April 26, 2013

Whew what a week! Sorry this post is so late but I had to squeeze it in somewhere in the day!

This weeks had its ups and downs for sure. Tuesday my husband started a new job :) yes a different new job. The other one was not working out, he wasn't getting much work but he really like this one! The only down fall is he is working a night shift, lame. I love cuddle time! Hopefully it will work out.

Monday was my sons 4th birthday :) I think I cried all day lol. My little monster is so big now. He had a Transformers cake, he loves Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime! We're going to have his big birthday party possibly the weekend after next.

As you all know due to a previous post my step dad did go to the hospital again. The mass has grown since January :( they again turned him down and said there was nothing they could do. They would have to find a kidney doctor to do a biopsy pro bono and if they found it was cancer they'd be stuck dealing with it and with no insurance it's just not gonna happen! All we could do is look at them and ask "so what do we wait until he's dead to do something?" I know that sounds harsh but it's a grim reality!

My sons birthday is also the day my mom had open heart surgery 3 years ago so it's kinda like her birthday too. She's doing better 3 years later but still struggles with other health issues.

My friend, you all may know her, she has a page too Ms Know It All's Savings and Reviews, stayed with us for 2 days. That was fun! We get together and let the kids play while we work on our blogs! It's always really fun!

We had some great giveaways this week too. The Hot Topic GC, The Earth Day Giveaway and WhoNu cookies. Congratulations to Ginger, Tabatha and Natalie on winning those!

Then to end the week off we lost a major country music star! My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of George Jones! There is no one who can fill those shoes. I grew up listening to him. What a great man he was.

I will be working this weekend at an old job I used to have so I apologize for not being on till late tonight and tomorrow night but I will try to respond to everything as soon as I get home! Don't forget The Cookie Dept Giveaway is going on right now and and Monday I will have a new giveaway for you all from FamilyStickers.com. I don't want to tell you too much so you'll be surprised.

I hope you all had a blessed week! I'd love to know how yours went! Comment and let me know. Sorry if this is all jumbled, it's been a wild one this week lol.

The pictures below are of me and my son on his birthday and my so. And his papaw the day he went to the hospital.

It Works Body Wrap Review

Have you wondered how a It Works Body Wrap
works? No more questions, just answers below.

The botanical blend in their wraps penetrate the skin and into the deeper skin layers, getting straight to the fat cells…where it forces toxins out of them! Those toxins are then picked up by the blood stream and filtered through the kidneys and essentially are eliminated through your urine. A little fact about fat cells: When you are born, you are born with all the fat cells your body will ever have. However, fat can expand 1000x its original size. Fat holds toxins and CAN be shrunk, you don’t essentially “lose” fat without exercise, proper diet or surgery – but you can certainly shrink it and our skinny wraps will do just that!

I had the great opportunity from an It Works Independent Consultant named Misty Simpson to try one. I loved it. The only things I can think of that was negative about it was being wrapped in saran wrap for 8 hours but it was more than worth it!

Don't believe me just check out my photos below, they are more than enough evidence!

Isn't that just great. You can get results like this too! If you don't have an It Works Body Wrap Independent Consultant than you should contact Mrs. Misty Simpson. Below you will find all of her contact information and website. I hope you all enjoy this just as much as I did!

The Cookie Department Review and Giveaway

The Cookie Department makes cookies that don't just taste good they are fully functional for your needs! They have all kinds of flavors. They have the Awaken Baked, Tough Cookie, Great Full, Chocolate Chip Nookie, Cherry Bomb and Snap Back! If you like to read more about how this all got started click HERE

Out of those I received them all except the Cherry Bomb.

The Awaken Baked Cookie is a naturally caffeinated and espresso cookie. It's made with three key ingredients organic coffee, chocolate chips and sea salt. The flavor of the coffee is perfect! It's almost like having a mocha coffee latte to start your day with minus the mess of poured coffee. It's the perfect cookie to start your morning out with!

The Tough Cookie is a peanut butter cookie filled with protein. Who says you can't have a snack after a work out :) this cookie is designed for post workout! It has the every day flavor you'd get from moms homemade peanut butter cookie but has double the benefits!

The Great Full Cookie is baked with sweet potatoes, cranberries and oatmeal. It also has vanilla and molasses flavors. It has all the antioxidants you need with the cranberries alone. I thought the flavor was good but an acquired taste on that note I should mention I am not a big fan of cranberries AT ALL!!!! It's a perfect mid day snack though.

The Chocolate Chip Nookie is The Cookie Dept TOP SECRET cookie. It has has special ingredients to increase vitality in men and women. The texture is fabulous, it's not too hard and not too soft. The chocolate chips are portioned right to the size of the cookie and the taste is out of this world! Grab you a glass of milk and enjoy life with this one of a kind chocolate chip cookie.

The Snap Back Cookie was not my favorite but it was my husbands as he loves anything with Ginger in it. Along with Ginger it also has Molasses and Blackstrap Cayenne. All these ingredients make for great detoxifiers! It resembles the taste of a ginger snap so if you like those you'll love this!

Overall the things I loved most about these cookies were there size. They are huge. Measuring 3 inches at least. When I want cookies I don't have to eat 10 to get full I can have just one and the benefits of eating that just one vs ten of the other cookies are phenomenal! Your getting things your body needs from The Cookie Departments Cookies and they taste better!

Please feel free to check these cookies out for yourself. The link to their site is http://www.thecookiedepartment.com. You can read up on them some more by clicking on each individual cookie, they have all the nutritional facts posted right there.

The best part is one lucky reader gets to win their very own cookies from The Cookie Department! Just use the raffle copter form below! Good Luck!

Sprigs Review

Sprigs is a manufacture of Banjees wrist wallets, Earbags, Yoga Clothes, fleece gloves, mittens, hot collars, hats, beanies, infinity scarves.

They have a great way of thinking when it comes to their designs. First they think of things they will like then they ask themselves will others like this too? I like that way of thinking myself. If you would like to know more about Sprigs click HERE.

I chose to review their Yoga Clothes. In particular I chose their Aspen Wrap Cardigan. They offer a great variety of Yoga Apparel. They have yoga pants, shirts, shorts, wraps, camis, tops, cover up dressees and yogi arms. If you're wondering what yogi arms are like I was their pretty much like little half jackets and are super cute!

As for my Aspen Wrap Cardigan, the thing that first attracted me to it was it's design. It has a crocheted design down the back that gives it flare. A great loose fitting cardigan to throw on over any top and it's a unique look to wear day or night. It's also 100% organic cotton, you gotta love that.

It's so light that you can barely tell your wearing it and that makes it great for this crazy weather we're having. Even when it's in the mid 70's I can throw it over top of a cami and it's looks FANTABULOUS and I don't sweat to death.

Overall Sprigs is a great company that offers wonderful things for people on the go. If you would like to take a look at their website you can go to www.sprigs.com. Maybe you'll find something that you can fall in love with!

Eatsmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale Review

logo

Eatsmart offers you a variety of scales to weigh the important things in life, such as Kitchen Scales, Bathroom Scales and Luggage Scales!

For my review I chose the Eat Smart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale. It's an awesome tool to have. You can weigh pretty much anything you would need in the kitchen, whether that be meats, flours, fruits/ veggies, etc. It even has a feature where you can subtract the weight of any plate or container that you are weighing your food on or in.

It has four convenient measurement modes: Grams, Ounces, Kilograms and Pounds. The one I use the most is pounds but every once in awhile I have to use the ounce function. I find it even more convenient that you can switch in between the modes without removing whatever it may be that you are weighing.

You also don't have to worry about going through a ton of batteries because it conveniently has a 3 minute auto turn off. So for those busy nights in the kitchen when you trying to cook, get everything ready to cook, keep the kids away from the hot stove and keep the tv on cartoons you have on less thing to worry about shutting off.

It works really great for portion control. So if you're on a diet or just like to monitor what you take in this is the scale for you!

You can choose between four colors when you pick out your scale: red, black, white and silver. Decision, decisions, decisions!

In the end I love this scale. Never something I thought I would need in my kitchen but now that I have it I refuse to give it up and you will to. Go ahead and figure it out for yourself, head on over to Eat Smart and order you one!

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds

Do you like to Garden? Have you ever heard of Heirloom Seeds? An heirloom seed is an open-pollinated cultivar, or cultivated plant that seeds come from, that is not used in large-scale modern agriculture. The strain must be of a certain age to qualify as an heirloom.

Because heirloom varieties are unique seeds that have not been genetically modified or crossed into other strains there are no specific features that they share except that they have usually become accustomed to their local growing area's conditions over the years.
Because heirloom seeds aren't crossed and bred locally, they can be tough to find, but you can conveniently find them reasonably priced at Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.
Not only are heirloom varieties usually very tasty--after all, why would a single seed be passed down for so many years?--but they also promote genetic diversity and are not prone to diseases that can wipe out entire varieties of homogenized vegetables.

Their collection of seeds is outstanding. They have 1,450 fine varieties of seeds to choose from. They come in a very garden appropriate burlap sack stamped with their name on it. If you would like to read more about them feel free to by clicking HERE.
  Home Gardner's Seed Collection

I received their Home Gardner's Collection. This collection is perfect for the home gardener or container gardener. It contains 20 full-sized packets of seeds and The Baker Creek Vegan Cookbook—all packaged in an attractive burlap bag with a drawstring closure. Varieties in this package are chosen to be productive in both Northern and Southern climates.
 Home Gardeners Collection
I cannot wait to get started in my garden with these. I have everything ready to go just waiting for the right day. If you're a fellow gardener you know what I mean.
I also cannot wait to get my plants grown and picked so I can put the Vegan Cookbook to use. I've never really cooked Vegan but it's not something I'm against. I'll try anything once, twice if I like it.

Baby Bee-Haven Review

Baby Bee-Haven in a product line that makes life more comfy for your little ones and convenient for you. They have products for stroller organization, their See-N-Store Stroller Organizer, stroller support with their Cush'n Go, for boys and girls, for those days out and about at the park they have a Swingin' Smart Swing Seat Cover, and for all those feeding you have with baby's they have the Dream Feeder, to make feeding feel better for you and baby.

I received the Dream Feeder to review. Not only is it cute enough it's cushiony enough. It's pretty much a memory foam pillow for your arm. All you have to do is strap it on to your arm with its velcro arm band before starting a feeding and your good to go. The fabric on it is so soft and silky feeling. I would have loved to have had this when my son was a baby. I don't know how many times I put a pillow on my arm to keep it from going numb and to keep his head comfy.

Boba Review

Boba Family

Boba provides the  best baby carriers you could ask for! Whether you choose the Boba Air, which is convenient for parents on the go or travelers, the Boba Carrier which works for both baby's and toddlers alike, the Boba Wrap which keeps your baby snuggled up to you from birth to 18 months, the option is all your but you can't go wrong whichever way you choose.

I chose the Boba Air. I am always on the go and as a mother I'm sure you share the "constantly forgetting" to grab everything problem. With the Boba Air all I have to do it grab my little satchel with the Boba Air in it and head out the door. Then when it's time to pack things up and go all I have to do is fold, zip and stash it away in the diaper bag. You can wear it with baby on the front of you or on the back, which is a great feature.

This baby carrier is based all on freedom and convenience. Remember those days before kids when you had enough hands, feel that again with Boba Air.

Blue Steel Review

My Baby's Heartbeat Bear Review

Merlot SkinCare Review

Merlot Skincare is a company that utilizes red grapes to their full advantage. You know they say a glass of red wine a day will help ward off cancer and lower cholesterol and with that information Dr. Grapes (Mr. Merlot) took off with his idea to turn them into a skin care solution! To read more click HERE.

While Merlot Skin Care offers a wide variety of products that range from Facial Creams, Microdermabrasion, Cleansers, Masks, Scrubs, Sanitizers, Lip Balm, Foot Cream and a fragrance I chose two to review. Those were the Foot Cream and Purifying Peel-Off Mask.

Purifying Peel Off MaskFoot Cream

The foot cream was very refreshing. I have and always have had very dry cracked heels and on my right foot a har a spot of psoriasis. After using the foot cream for a week my crack in my heel were virtually gone and the psoriases completely healed! I should note that I had tried every form of psoriases treatment there was out there up until this point. I also used the foot cream on my husband because it said it worked well for tired and achy feet and after being on his feet all day at work they were indeed that. He loved it too and said it exceeded his expectations.
The Purifying Peel-Off Mask was a savior in itself! I tried it on myself and my mother. It's so easy to use. You simply apply a layer and wait 15 minutes to peel it off. My face stays a little red due to Rosacia and normally I had to cake it with make up to cover it up but not after a use with this! My face feel rejuvenated. My mother also loved it too. It seemed to decrease the wrinkles, which may I say I didn't think she had that many of, she has aged very gracefully. It left both of our faces feeling as smooth as a babies bottom.
I wish I could try each and every one of their products and I will most certainly start buying from them and you should too. Give them a try atleast

Tatutina Happy Box Review

good tat logo

Tatutina is a wonderful company that offers the cutest products designed by mother and daughter! To read more about them click HERE.

I had the opportunity to review one of their newest products out there, their Happy Boxes! It's a new category of wooden boxes that can be personalized with an initial/wooden letter. Labeling these is almost as fun as filling them.

OC-ABC's
You can choose between an Open Cube box, which comes in three different colors: blue, pink, or white.

Open Cube Box - Blue
Open Cube Box - White
Open Cube Box - Pink

Or you can choose a Square Keepsake Box, which also comes in pink, blue or white.

Square Keepsake Box - Pink
Square Keepsake Box - Blue

Square Keepsake Box - White
I chose the blue keepsake box with the letter L on it for my son Landon. I thought it would be something great for my to put all my little keepsakes in from him, such as his first hand prints and footprints, birth certificate, drawings and stuff from school. Then when he is older, old enough to appreciate it I will give it to him to have and cherish as I did! Pretty cute idea huh?

Your Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated

I have debated on posting this for about a month now but that time has come that it is no longer a question in my head.

About three and a half years ago my step father went to the hospital to have his appendix removed. He was suffering from severe pains in his abdomen. We rushed him to the Emergency Room where they said it was indeed about to rupture. They put him in surgery immediately to remove it. While doing that they found a mass on his kidneys. With no insurance and and all ready outstanding hospital bill we couldn't do anything further about it.

In July of last year he was in a wreck where they took him to the same hospital and the physicians noticed that it had grew. Yet again he was still unable to have health insurance so with yet another hospital bill burdened upon us we were still unable to proceed.

In January of this year we noticed several things were starting to go wrong. He wasn't remembering things, he couldn't eat and was in severe pain and fever of 103.7 on a constant so we took him to the Emergency Room again. He was there for nearly a week. They finally acknowledged the mass on his kidneys and found  what they called "multiple bilateral pulmonary nodular opacities" in both of his lungs. The hospital stated that they could not do a biospy due to a current staff infection that had to be cleared up.

They then sought a kidney doctor who had seen him in the hospital he told them with no insurance they said they would not see him and no other doctor would see him because a hospital would have to do it probono or come up with the money.

My mother came up with enough money to take him to see a lung doctor who called back just two days ago to do a follow up but did not have the money to take him yet again. He did tell us that he believed the nodules on his lungs were strictly pnuemonia. So that was a great sense of relief but now we're stuck with the kidney. Below I am going to write exactly what the hospital report has stated on 1/22/2013.

"This is concering for neoplasm such as renal cell carcinoma. Interval enlargement of complicated cyst could produce a similar appearance but renal cancer is the diagnosis of exclusion. Further workup is strongly recommended. Additional workup will require a multipasic CT including a noncontrast area scan, if this had not already been perfomed. Clinical correlation and correlation with any interval workip since the prior exam would be helpful."

I would be more than happy to upload this document so everyone could see that there is no story being made up.

We have called around to several, and by several I mean a lot, of cancer treatment facilities and hospitals asking if there was anything they could possibly do to assist us in this. We have tried to find someone who will give him insurance (how we would be able to pay was a task) but no one would consider him. We found out that generally if a hopstial or facility receives grants they were suppose to take in people in this scenario but still no luck.

Tomorrow they are planning one more attempt to take him to a different hospital in our area. One that has outstanding reviews in cancer treatment. This is not going to be an easy task. As I have previously stated, the hospital bills my parents have now are over the $50,000 mark. My mom is disabled due to diabetes and heart disease and cannot work and with this information being stated you understand why my step father cannot either. It's hard enough for them to pay normal bills as I could imagine it is with any family in todays economy. With them being gone I will be staying at their house to take care of the animals and daily house maintanence. If everything goes well and they do admit him for treatment or surgery what ever will be necessary then they will be pretty much living at a hospital for a great amount of time. This is not cheap. Paying for meals, gas back and forth when she is able to come home for a break or pick up clothes that needed to be taken care of and countless other things. Our every resource has been exhausted.

For this reason I was hoping that my readers (if possible) would help us in this situation. Every little bit counts. I have created a PayPal account ( make donations to Jjtrekell@aol.com) that is accepting donations. Again anything would be awesome. If you have any questions please feel more than free to contact me at mrsveryflamable@gmail.com

Again, I want to make it clear that, no, we are not 100% sure this is cancer but this is what the doctors believe it is. I am asking for help so we can find out if indeed that is what it is. My step father has 5 children (myself, my blood sister, and 3 children of his own) and 4 grandchildren (my son, one of my sisters already born son and another she's pregnant with and another one of his daughters is having a little girl) that would love to have him around for as long as we can. He has been pretty much a "father" to me for the past 8 years of my life and the only grandfather my son knows due to the fact that my biological father was not around. I couldn't imagine something happening to him knowing the access I had to be able to help in some account. If we do find out that it is for sure cancer this will continue to help.

So please donate if you can and share with your friends or anyone you know and direct them to this post. I will post updates along the way with any information we receive. I would create a Facebook page but I figured that was pointless when I already have a blog with a Facebook page that has so many dedicated readers. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and help.

Sincerely,
Kendra Browne (Mrs. Very Flamable)
